Dear all,
Welcome to our school website!
Lake Cargelligo Central School is a small remote school located in central NSW, 134 kilometres from the regional centre of Griffith. We acknowledge that our school is on the Wiradjuri lands and pay our deep respects to the Barkindji and Ngiyampaa Aboriginal people who are the traditional custodians and knowledge holders of the land on which we learn and live.
Our school caters to students from Kindergarten to Year 12, with current enrolment at 236 students, including 92 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Students travel from around the district to attend school in the town of Lake Cargelligo.
Strategic Improvement Plan – Our Strategic Directions
- Student Growth and Attainment: To ensure all students improve their learning outcomes in literacy and numeracy, we will use data-driven practices and evidence-based strategies to inform teaching and learning.
- Impactful Practice and Collaboration: To ensure every student, every teacher, and every leader improves every year, we will embed impactful and evidence-based approaches to teaching and learning, harnessing an effective and collaborative approach.
- Connection and Community: To ensure students connect, succeed, and thrive, we will foster inclusive, respectful, and meaningful relationships across the school community, enabling consistent attendance, high levels of engagement, and retention of all students.
Our school’s dedication to fostering a culture of belonging and connection is more than just words on a page; it is the foundation of our school community. Together as a school team of 60 amazing educators and support staff, we create an environment that supports, challenges, and inspires every member of our learning community. This culture empowers our students to strive for personal excellence and pursue continuous improvement.
As a school community we strive to ensure an equitable and outstanding education for every student, in every classroom, every day.
Every Student
Our focus on equity and inclusion means recognising that each student is unique, with diverse backgrounds, strengths, and learning needs. As a school, we hold high expectations, believing that all students and staff can improve and find success. By personalising our approach, we can help every student overcome challenges and achieve their best. We promote High Potential Gifted Educational opportunities from K-12 through access to Auora (Opportunity Class) as well as many extracurricular activities included but not limited to sport, cultural activities, art, STEM, music, public speaking and debating.
Our focus on equity and inclusion means recognising that each student is unique, with diverse backgrounds, strengths, and learning needs. Lake Cargelligo Central School is proud of the rich tapestry of cultures that make up our community. We celebrate this diversity by promoting an inclusive environment where every student feels a sense of belonging and connection. Through cultural events, collaborative learning experiences, and programs that honour and respect each student's heritage, we strive to create a supportive atmosphere that values all cultures. By fostering mutual respect and understanding, we ensure that every student can thrive and contribute to our vibrant school community.
Every Classroom
Excellence in teaching and learning is at the heart of what we do. This means providing all students and staff with the right support and resources to succeed. We create an environment where innovative teaching practices are shared, and professional growth is encouraged. As a school we are proud to have both early career and experienced staff who regularly engage in evidence-based high-impact professional learning to refine and reflect on practice, ensuring continuous improvement across our entire learning community.
Our Stage 6 students are part of the Lachlan Access Program, which has been running for 30 years. This program offers a diverse range of access opportunities for students to study Stage 6 courses within their own community and supports some students to be extended in Stage 5. Teachers work collaboratively to deliver the curriculum through a blended online learning platform.
Every Day
Consistency and engagement are vital for both students and staff. This encompasses not only regular attendance at school but also active participation in every class and learning experience. Our commitment to continual improvement is evident in all that we do—encouraging students to take ownership of their learning while we, as educators, reflect on our practices and seek opportunities for growth.
Our school has contextualised the Positive Behaviour for Learning framework into our current wellbeing approach, 'The Lake Way,' to develop a positive, safe, and supportive learning culture. Our approach is focused on our school values of Respect, Responsibility, and Learning. We utilise the support of our Wellbeing Hub, Clontarf Academy, and our Australian Education Award winning Yinaagang Aboriginal Girls' program to support our students with their learning, wellbeing, and pathways across our school.
Ensuring that every student feels valued, connected, and inspired to reach their full potential is at the heart of what we do at Lake Cargelligo Central School. If you haven’t already visited our wonderful school – please drop by and see the wonderful things taking place not only in our school but our vibrant community.
